Globally, CG Hospitality Holdings owns and operates 134 hotels and resorts with 7,561 keys in 12 countries and 93 destinations. The big-ticket hospitality brands they partner with include The Taj, Vivanta, Taj Safaris, Jetwing, The Farm and Radisson, to name a few.
CG Hospitality operates hotels, resorts and spas across Asia, the Middle East, America and Africa. The portfolio consists of iconic properties and destinations—Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives; Jetwing Vil Uyana – Sigiriya, Sri Lanka; The Farm at San Benito, Philippines; Meghauli Serai (A Taj Safaris Lodge) – Chitwan, Nepal; Taj Samudra – Colombo, Sri Lanka; Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers – Dubai, and now Fairmont The Norfolk – Nairobi, Kenya and Fairmont Mara Club – Masai Mara, Kenya, amongst others.
It also owns CG Hotels and Resorts which, via a JV company, Concept Hospitality, manages and owns a range of mid-scale to luxury hotels through its brands. The Zinc and The Fern have a portfolio of 102 existing and signed operating hotels, with 3700 keys. The recent HVS (HVS Global Hospitality services) Indian Hospitality Industry Overview 2019 Report, ranked ‘Concept Hospitality’ (A member of CG Hotels & Resorts) 1st in property openings and 4th in terms of keys, in India.
Chaudhary wears three hats—investor, operator and asset managers, and has an approach that seamlessly marries the needs and ambitions of each. He has forged strategic alliances in established as well as emerging markets that assist in the growth of the company and has a birds-eye view of several countries and continents.
In this interview, Chaudhary offers his perception of how the hospitality industry will evolve and why you need to approach the business with more rationality and fewer emotions, keeping cost structures in mind. His parting shot: the hospitality industry will bounce back from the global health crisis, as it has done from every crisis and challenge in the past.
