Make In India – Time India Awards
Time Magazine, one of the most recognizable & iconic global brands sparks conversation that drive global change, provide context and understanding to the issues and events that define our time. Time Magazine in association with Mediascope strategized TIME India Awards that recognize notable achievements in manufacturing in one of the world’s fastest growing economies. In early 2016 with the help of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, TIME magazine launched the TIME India Awards.
The Award Categories
The awards recognized leadership in the Indian manufacturing and encompassed five categories:
- Best in Class Manufacturing
- Manufacturing Innovator of the Year
- Young Maker of the Year
- MSME Innovator of the Year
- Start UP Innovator of the year awards.
To facilitate and execute the award process, Time recruited a knowledge partner Mc Kinsey & Co.
Starting with a pool of approximately 3,000 manufacturing companies, and extensive evaluation of qualitative and quantitative parameters produced nine finalists across the three categories. The finalists were decided by an elite global judging panel including names such as Narayana Murthy, Founder Infosys ,John Rice Vice Chairman GE ,Kevin Sneader CEO Mc Kinsey Asia & were announced at an event held by Time magazine at WEF Summit at Davos in 2016 & 2017, where elite member of the judging panel discussed the shortlisted entries.
The Award Ceremony, Pre and Post Buzz:
Mediascope along with Time and knowledge partner Mc Kinsey & Co. carefully decided the elite global judging panel which including names such as Narayana Murthy, Founder Infosys, John Rice Vice Chairman GE, Kevin Sneader CEO Mc Kinsey Asia and more. A panel discussion was aired on CNBC TV18 pre awards with Norman Pearlstine Chief Content Officer Time & Rajat Dhawan, Managing Partner Mc Kinsey & Company and another discussion was hosted post awards with the winners of the awards.
The winners were announced at an event held by Time magazine at WEF Summit at Davos in 2016 & 2017. In 2017, the awards were presented by the then Minister of Finance Shri Arun Jaitely, and then Minister of Commerce Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman along with Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Chandra Babu Naidu at the CII Partnership Summit held in Vishakapatnam.
A panel discussion was aired on CNBC TV18 pre awards with Norman Pearlstine Chief Content Officer Time & Rajat Dhawan, Managing Partner Mc Kinsey & Company & post award with the winners of the awards in the year 2016.
In 2016, the awards were given out during the Make in India week held in February 2016 in Mumbai. The Hon Prime Minister was the guest of honor at the event.
In 2017 ,the awards were presented by the Hon Minister of Finance Shri Arun Jaitely,Hon Minister of Commerce Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman alongwith Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Chandra Babu Naidu at the CII Partnership Summit held in Vishakapatnam in Jan 2017.
The campaign was carried out in the Time Magazine and on time.com. An attention grabbing full page advertisement was released in the Time magazine global editions. The website had display banners and native articles to create the necessary buzz and engagement. The winners were declared on the cover page of the TIME Magazine.

The event got extensive coverage in all the relevant Indian and International Publications like The Hindu, Business World, Business Standard, The Tribune to name a few.
